Exploring the World of Monkeytail Teas: A Visit to a Hidden Gem in the Mountains
Have you ever heard of Monkeytail Teas? If not, you’re in for a treat! I had the pleasure of visiting the plantation and meeting with the owner, David Williams, and I can confidently say that this is a hidden gem in the world of tea.
Located in a peaceful and beautiful location in the mountains, Monkeytail Teas is a relatively new plantation, having only started in 2017. However, David has been interested in tea for most of his life and is dedicated to making high-quality teas. This dedication has paid off, as the plantation recently won a bronze award for their Premium OP1 black tea at the Golden Leaf Awards.
During my visit, I had the opportunity to witness the beautiful plucking style used at the plantation and learn about the green and black tea processing. The location itself is serene, with plenty of bird life and a 120-year-old bungalow that serves as a bed and breakfast for visitors. The bungalow has been renovated to maintain its original features and creates a unique experience for those visiting.
But the experience doesn’t stop there. The teas produced at Monkeytail Teas are truly amazing, and the food served is beautiful. The plantation also offers vegan and gluten-free menu options, catering to a variety of dietary needs.
If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway and a chance to learn more about the world of tea, I highly recommend visiting Monkeytail Teas. You can book your stay through their website, gammadurabungalow.com, or through booking.com and Airbnb. Trust me, the journey to get there is well worth it.
