On the 15th of November, 2017 the International Tea Masters Cup Board announced Sharyn Johnston as the Head Judge for the 2017-2018 Tea Masters Cup Competition Cycle worldwide.
Sharyn Johnston has supported the Tea Masters Cup project since the beginning and has co-ordinated competitions in both Australia and Singapore. She has judged several national and international competitions and continues to share her experience and knowledge for the purpose of developing the Tea Masters Cup competition.
“[Sharyn] has a reputation of highest tea expert.” Says Elena Thomas, coordinator of Tea Masters Cup International. “Her participation will give a new impetus to the further development of the judging of TMC Competitions.”
There are currently 20 countries who host Tea Masters Cup championships including Australia, Vietnam, Italy, France, and Turkey, with Indonesia joining in 2018. Sharyn will begin her new role as head judge at Tea Masters Cup in Vietnam this coming December.
The Tea Masters Cup is a worldwide competition which focuses on promoting excellence in tea, advancing the tea profession, increasing tea service standards as well as engaging a world-wide audience passionate about tea and tea culture.
It consists of four categories; Tea Preparation, Tea and Food Pairing, Tea Cocktails and Tea Tasting. Tea lovers and professionals alike compete to win the coveted prize of Tea Masters Cup Champion, to then go onto the world finals.
